GH response to COVID-19, Asbestos, Stress, Responsible Pet Ownership and Remote Working
Hi, and welcome back. As April came to an end, we reflected on the year so far and this new “normal” we find ourselves in. These are strange and unnerving times for us all and with the whole team remote working we have embraced Microsoft Teams and Zoom like long lost relatives and welcomed them into our lives with open arms! We remain grateful for the team we have here at GH and for the ability to continue to work but stay safe and hope you’ve managed to as well.
So; what’s been going on at GH?
The first 4 months of 2020 have flown by and even in light of recent events it has been a busy time at GH!
With the new restrictions in place, we released our second GH response to COVID-19 statement committing our service to our clients whilst working from home.
April brought yet more challenges and rewards. Anyone not great with I.T had no choice but to become better at it. And we have!!
Microsoft 365 (formally Office 365) has long since been our choice of weapon at GH for delivering our service. However; until this point in time there’s been a reluctance surrounding the full implementation of the available software apps and has thus far been limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and the occasional Access database. Microsoft Teams has been something of a ‘pipe dream’ for us, with Sharepoint a discussion had every few months at senior staff meetings.
Apart but together, we have celebrated and raised awareness for many causes including those that are close to our hearts, important in our industry or supporting the nation at this time:
National Pet Month: nationalpetmonth.org.uk
Each year, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) dedicates April 1-7 to increasing awareness of asbestos and preventing exposure by bringing together experts and victims from around the world to share, learn, and take action. Global Asbestos Awareness Week (GAAW) brings together experts and victims from around the world to share, learn, and take action.
Asbestos is a known carcinogen and there is no safe level of exposure. Throughout the 19th century, this mineral was widely used in construction, shipbuilding, and the automotive industry. Without a ban, asbestos remains legal and lethal in nearly 70% of the world today, including in the United States. As such, it continues to kill nearly 250,000 people globally each year, though — infuriatingly — every one of these deaths is 100% preventable. Prevention is our focus this week as we remember: “Hear Asbestos. Think Prevention.”
